01Who we are

Brisbane and the Gold Coast have long been a breeding ground for creative talent.

Artists, producers, DJs and visionaries pushing culture forward. We started ILOVENEWSOUL RECORDS as an independent home for that talent, somewhere to make music and videos together.

We’re rooted in the local scene, but you don’t need to live here to work with us.

02What we do

What we create together

Some people come to us for a hand with their music. Others have skills to bring. There’s room for both.

  1. Artists & releases

Developing artists, working on songs together and getting releases out.

    • Artist collaboration
    • Artist development
    • Music distribution
  2. Sound

Making the music and making it sound right.

    • Music production
    • Songwriting
    • Audio engineering
    • Mixing
  3. Visuals

Music videos and the visuals around a release.

    • Music videos
    • Visual production
  4. Producers & tools

Showcasing producers, plus drum kits and sample packs.

    • Producer showcases
    • Drum kits
    • Sample packs

Kits and packs are their own products, separate from any collaboration.

Remote

Most of the work happens online. Production, writing, mixing and distribution can all be done from wherever you are.

In person

Some things, like a video shoot or a studio session, need everyone in the same place. We’ll sort that out together when it comes up.

03How we work

How we work

We work project by project and bring in whoever each one needs. If we agree to collaborate, there are no upfront fees for our services. We share in the project instead, through agreed splits or a share of net revenue, and any agreed costs come back out of what the project earns. Before anyone starts work, we talk through the scope, rights, splits and recoupment and put it all in writing.

This page is just an introduction to how we work. It isn’t an offer or a contract. Nothing is agreed until it’s in writing.

  1. No exclusivity

Working with us on one thing doesn’t stop you working with anyone else. Sometimes a release comes with its own commitments, like distribution or licensing, and we’ll agree those for that release.

  2. Project by project

We look at each collaboration on its own and pull in whoever it needs.

  3. No upfront fees

When we agree to work on something together, we put in creative work, production, development or distribution without charging you up front.

  4. We share in it

Our part comes from the project itself, through agreed splits or a share of net revenue. Master ownership, master income, publishing and net revenue are all separate things, and we treat them that way.

  5. Costs come out of earnings

Any costs we agree on are recouped from what the project earns, on terms we set before we start.

  6. It’s written down first

Scope, rights, splits and recoupment get talked through and written down before anything kicks off.

Questions

Can I join from outside Australia?

Yes. Most of what we do happens online, so it doesn’t matter where you live. If a project needs us in the same room, we’ll plan that with you.

Do I need to sign exclusively?

No. You’re free to work with whoever you like. If a release needs its own terms, like a distribution or licensing deal, we’d agree those for that release before we start.

Are there upfront fees?

Not for collaborations we take on. We share in the project through agreed splits or net revenue instead, and agreed costs are paid back from what the project earns. Drum kits and sample packs are different. They’re separate products, not part of a collaboration.

How are splits and recoupment agreed?

Case by case, before any work starts. Master ownership, master income, publishing and net revenue aren’t the same thing, so we go through each one that matters for the project, plus which costs get recouped and how. Then it all goes in writing.

Can I apply with an unfinished project?

Of course. Ideas, demos and unfinished songs are all welcome. Just tell us where it’s at and what would help.

Can I get involved as a producer or creative?

Yes. Whatever you do, you’re welcome to say hello, even without a project in mind.

What happens after I submit?

Each submission is considered on its own, and we get in touch if there’s a possible fit. Sending the form doesn’t create an agreement, a public profile or any rights over your work.
